Frequently Asked Questions about our english labradors
#1. Do you ship your puppies? While we love to meet our puppy’s new families in person, we realize that sometimes distance plays a role and this is not always easy to do. Yes, we do ship our puppies, but by ground only. We have a reputable, very clean and sanitary company that we recommend. If we arrange shipping through this company it is a flat rate of $350 additional. This company does not ship to the west coast or to Florida but is very negotiable in meeting within the states that they cover. Or you can arrange ground shipping using your preferred company.
#2. What do your puppies come with? All of Briar Hill Labradors puppies are sold with limited AKC registration. They receive their first shots and are treated weekly for parasite prevention beginning at 2 weeks of age. Flea and tick prevention is given after 6 weeks of age. The puppies are seen by my vet and receive a certificate of health. We offer a health and hip guarantee on our puppies and send them to you with a quart of puppy food. We feed the Victor brand. Puppies go home no earlier than 8 weeks of age. And all of our puppies come with lots of pre-spoiling and love!
#3. What is the difference between limited registration and full registration? With limited registration you will receive a certificate of registration by the AKC stating it is limited registration, however, offspring of this dog will not be eligible for registration. This is to protect the breeder’s bloodlines. Many people do not understand the commitment, financial investment, and dedication in improving the breed that breeders work so hard on when breeding these beautiful Labradors.
Full registration allows the offspring of the dog to be registered with AKC.
#4. How can I obtain full registration/breeding rights? On occasion we revoke limited registration status. This may be done once health clearances have been done on the dog and the new owner signs an agreement on breeding true to the Labrador standards, and we feel comfortable and feel we can trust the new owner on working towards bettering our bloodlines. In the instance one wants to show the dog, we do a co-own with full registration.
#5. Do you breed silvers or crossbreed? NO, positively not. As a Labrador enthusiast, we strongly disapprove of breeding silvers or any dilute colors that is untrue to the Labrador breed standard. The same goes with crossbreeding. We feel a Labrador is as beautiful a dog as one can have, so why ruin it.
#6. How do I reserve a puppy? Typically what we do is we take your name and contact info and put you on our waiting list. We allow people to choose their puppy in the order we receive their request to be put on our list. We keep you updated on when the breeding takes place, when pregnancy is obvious and when the puppies are born. Once the puppies are born we require a $200 non-refundable deposit before they are 2 weeks of age. If no deposit is received within the 2 week time, the puppy will become available for purchase again. We take personal checks or bank certified checks, as payment until the puppies are 6 weeks of age. We are looking into setting up a Paypal account but have not yet set that up. Any payments after 6 weeks of age is cash only. All puppies MUST be paid in full before leaving our premises. Refunds will only be given if the color or sex of the puppy you requested is not born in the litter, or if the puppy dies before you take it home.
